Go to bing.com/profile/history, find Change history settings (shown as “Show new searches here” on some layouts) and switch it Off. New searches will no longer appear in your history or be used for your suggestions. Existing history stays until you delete it.
Turning history off is the closest thing Bing offers to “don't remember my searches”. It's quick, and you can switch it back on at any time.
Turn off search history on bing.com
- Open bing.com/profile/history.
- Find the history setting: Change history settings or the Show new searches here switch.
- Set it to Off.
If the switch doesn't respond, allow JavaScript and cookies for bing.com (Microsoft notes both are needed) and reload the page.

What changes when history is off
- New searches don't appear on your history page.
- They aren't used for your personal suggestions in the search box.
- Microsoft still processes each search to answer it and keeps service logs as described in its privacy statement. Those logs are de-identified over time; see how long Bing keeps search history.
Other ways to search without saving history
- Use a private window. InPrivate in Edge, Incognito in Chrome, Private Browsing in Safari or Firefox. You start signed out, so nothing is added to your account, and the browser forgets the session when you close it.
- Sign out of your Microsoft account on bing.com. Searches then stay on that browser only and are removed when you clear cookies.
- Clear cookies on exit. In Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
- Turn off personalized ads for your Microsoft account in the privacy dashboard's ad settings, so your activity isn't used to target ads.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a way to permanently disable Bing history?
The history setting stays off until you switch it back on, as long as you use the same account (or, when signed out, keep the same cookies). If you clear cookies while signed out, check the setting again.
Does InPrivate hide my searches from Microsoft?
It keeps them out of your history and your browser. Microsoft still receives the search to answer it, and your network or employer can see that you visited Bing.
Can I pause history instead of turning it off?
Switching it off works as a pause: turn it back on whenever you want new searches saved again.
