To find your search history, choose the search engine or browser you used. Bing searches, Google account activity and browser history are separate lists; clearing one may leave the others.

View Bing search history

Use the Bing history page in the original browser, check your Microsoft account and narrow entries using the available date or type controls. Account searches can also appear on Microsoft’s privacy dashboard. Full Bing search history guide.

View Google search history

Open My Activity, sign into the relevant Google account, and use its search and product filters to find Search activity. Google is rolling out Search Services History; some accounts still show Web & App Activity. Use the controls actually displayed for your account.

Find a website in browser history

If you remember a page rather than the words you searched, open browser History. In desktop Chrome, you can also type @history in the address bar, press Tab or Space, and enter a keyword. On phones, open the browser’s menu and choose History; its location depends on the app.

How to delete search history

  1. Bing: clear signed-out history on Bing’s history page, or use the Microsoft privacy dashboard for personal account search activity.
  2. Google: in My Activity, select the relevant Search activity, choose a deletion period and confirm the scope.
  3. Browser: open its browsing-data controls, select the time range and browsing history, then confirm. Check sync settings if other devices are involved.

Deleting history is different from disabling future saving. Review each service’s history controls separately. Save anything you need before confirming a deletion.

Why can’t I find my previous searches?

Check the account, browser, device and date filters first. Activity may have been deleted or its saving disabled. Private sessions generally do not retain a normal local browsing record after they close. A service account may still record activity depending on sign-in and settings.

Search history questions

Where is my search history?

Bing history is on Bing’s history page, Google account activity is in My Activity, and visited pages are in your browser’s History menu.

Is search history the same as browsing history?

Search history records activity with a search service. Browsing history records visited pages. They can overlap but are managed separately.

Can I see history from another device?

It depends on account activity and browser sync. Use the same account and check the relevant service; do not assume signed-out searches are available across devices.
