Bing Chat became Microsoft Copilot in November 2023, so your chats now live at copilot.microsoft.com and in the Copilot app. Delete one chat from the chat list (… > Delete). Delete all of them in the Microsoft privacy dashboard under Copilot > Delete all activity history.
Conversations with Copilot are not part of your Bing search history, so clearing search history leaves them in place. They have their own list and their own delete options.
Where to find old Bing Chat conversations
- Go to copilot.microsoft.com (the old bing.com/chat address now takes you to Copilot) or open the Copilot app on Windows, iPhone or Android.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account you used.
- Open the chat list in the sidebar. Your previous conversations are listed there, newest first.
Chats are saved only when you're signed in. If you used Bing Chat while signed out, there's nothing to go back to.
Delete a single conversation
- Open Copilot and sign in.
- In the chat list, find the conversation.
- Select … (More) next to it and choose Delete.
In the mobile app, long-press the chat or tap its menu to find the same option.
Delete all Copilot chat history
- Sign in to the Microsoft privacy dashboard.
- Go to the Copilot section (under Empower your productivity) and open your Copilot app activity history.
- Under Copilot apps, select Delete all activity history and confirm.
The same page has an Export option that downloads your activity as a CSV file, if you want a copy first.
Turn off Copilot memory
Copilot can remember things about you across chats. To stop that:
- In Copilot, open Settings > Personalization.
- Turn off Saved memories.
- To erase what it already remembers, select Manage > Delete all memories.
How long Copilot keeps your chats
According to Microsoft's Copilot privacy FAQ, conversation activity is stored for 18 months by default, unless you delete it sooner. Deleting a chat removes it from your list straight away.
Stop your chats being used for AI training
Microsoft may use Copilot conversations to train its models, but you can opt out at any time. In Copilot, open Settings > Privacy and switch off the model training options (for text and, if shown, voice). This doesn't delete past chats; do that separately as shown above.
Work or school accounts
If you use Copilot with a work or school account (Microsoft 365 Copilot or Copilot Chat), your organization controls retention. Your activity can be managed from the Microsoft 365 Copilot section of your account, but your admin may keep records under company policy.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bing Chat history the same as Bing search history?
No. Searches are saved in Bing search history; chats are saved in Copilot. You need to delete each separately.
Can I recover a deleted Copilot conversation?
No. Once deleted, a conversation can't be restored, so export your activity first if you need it.
Why can't I see my old Bing Chat conversations?
Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account you used back then. Chats made while signed out weren't saved.
